Impact of social network and reign of selfish centrism already start the same impact here than in west. Young generation believe they can become influencer or even that they are already. They want to travel and to be paid to do nothing. None of them model want to get married because it’s cringe and children can wait to have 45 years it’s ok to freeze your eggs and to use abortion as contraception. Those new trend destroyed Western society and capitalist keeper reply is to open door to immigration, as it’s the artificial way to keep population growing and to fantasy that the Ponzi system of pension will be able to survive.
Poor Hungary the decline of civilization comes by the Metropol and if we have the details statistics I bet Budapest statistics are the worst for wedding and birth.
The Orban government gave interest free loans to buy homes to couples who promised to have three children within a fixed time period. Many of those couples took the money but are now coming to the end of the contract term without having had three children and are required to pay the money back. It was an idea with good intentions but couples cannot produce children at the push of a button. There are fertility issues with a lot of couples. Beyond that the question exists whether even with those financial incentives many couples still decided that they cannot afford to have children or do they simply do not want to have them. This is not just a Hungarian problem but exists across the developed world. The highest fertility rates in Europe are in France, Czechia and Romania. The bottom line is that with financial incentives and patriotic calls to motherhood failing to achieve a higher birth rate the only thing left to keep the population level stable is immigration which is anathema to Fidesz. After the Mongols wiped out the Hungarian population it was the king’s invitation to immigrants to settle in Hungary that repopulated the land. Hungarians biologically have little to do with the original tribes of Arpad’s time.

The population of Hungary started to decline in 1980, during the beautiful times of the Goulash Communism.

Deaths to new born – been a MASSIVE problem in Hungary for decade plus, that reflects in our declining population number.
Of greater concern, is the rapid escalating pace of the younger generation of Hungarians 18 years to 35 numbers with “little ones” who continue to move away from Hungary.
Professional opportunities – work opportunities and wage/salary levels, that ALL has to do with there FUTURE & Family’s Life, the instability of a declining economy, instability of a government, strong indications the eradication of Democracy in Hungary, and the “leaving” or being expelled from the European Union of Hungary – these are just a few of the reasons added to the death to new born ratio, problems Hungary, under the Orban Government face.
If we depart from a situation where there is by far no chance of the population becoming extinct, there are usually a few reasons reasons to keep up the size of a population, or to increase it., The one is economic rivalry (bigger,more..), the other is government being in need of large armies, and thus people who can be used as canon fodder. Another reason is temporary, that is when a country is in ruins after a war or some other cause of grand scale devastation, and large amounts of people are needed to rebuild the country and its economy.
Now, the latter situation is not the case in Hungary, and the first two situations have to do with the interests of those who are in power.. looking to extend their power. We can safely assume that the readers and commenters of this article do not belong to this class.
Hungary is also not in the situation of invasion of migrants like in other countries, causing a situation that in the near future the native population will be replaced.
How come relatively ordinary people on this medium are reasoning like national rivaling power mongers and those who are on top? The population of Hungary ranges from 3.25 million in 1800, to 10.75 in 1981, to 9.66 million in 2020, so what? Primitive people flock together like Voltaire wrote, but developed and richer people need some space and time for their development, so after a period of growth and development, the size of the population will naturally decline.
