Storm alert in Hungary: Hail and lightning on the horizon – weather forecast
Summer weather keeps shrinking to smaller and smaller areas in Hungary. On Saturday, the Hungarian Meteorological Service issued a first-level, yellow alert across the country.
“In the affected regions, the primary threat is lightning, though strong winds and hailstorms may also occur in some cases. If HungaroMet withdraws the first-level alert or escalates it to a second-level warning, we will issue a new announcement,” HungaroMet stated.
The service also shared a post on Facebook. It explained that after the massive rainfall across Central Europe, the summer-like weather in Hungary is now limited to smaller areas as a rain zone gradually takes over most of the country. On Saturday, temperatures in the eastern border region still reached 28-29°C, but rain and cooler weather are expected to arrive there soon as well.
