Successful Weekend For Norbert Michelisz In The Slovakian WTCC Race
Michelisz could improve his brilliant performance after the qualifying session on Saturday, he finished 3rd in the Slovakian WTCC race, reports sportgeza.hu.
He finished 4th placed with his Honda on Saturday just behind the three Citroens which had the pole position 4 out of 4 and won 5 races of 6.
Therace itself was on Sunday, and was suspended for a time as the rainfall made dangerous circumstances. The Hungarian racer made a good start. The 3rd Citroen racer, Yvan Muller made an error in the first turn and Michelisz took over immediately. It turned out that the French world champion moved before the actual green light, hence received a penalty, so Michelisz was able to keep him at distance.
Soon it started raining, the cars were drifting. The Safety Car was sent in, but it was still difficult to keep the cars on the road, so the race was suspended in the 8th lap. Michelisz was 3rd, just like last year in Slovakia.
Sebastian Loeb won the race, he was followed by his teammate Jose Maria Lopez and after them came the Hungarian racer. The second best Honda racer, Thiago Monteiro, was 7h.
The second race was scheduled for 4 p.m., but the rain did not stop, so the organizers deleted the event. The race will not start again, hence this year there will be one less race in WTCC.
