Good news: Sunny Easter long weekend ahead in Hungary with temperatures up to 22°C!
Hungary is set for a pleasantly mild and mostly dry Easter long weekend, with spring-like sunshine and daytime highs reaching 22°C by Easter Sunday, according to the latest forecast from HungaroMet.
While the weather is expected to remain largely favourable for outdoor programmes, sightseeing and Easter getaways, gusty winds may return several times during the holiday period, particularly in western and northern parts of the country, MTI reported.
Good Friday begins cloudy, then turns brighter
Good Friday started with considerable cloud cover across much of Hungary, but skies are expected to clear steadily from the west during the day.
A northerly to north-westerly wind will be strong across large areas, with gale-force gusts possible in western counties.
Afternoon temperatures are forecast to range between 13°C and 19°C.
Sunny and crisp weather for Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday looks ideal for outdoor Easter plans, with plenty of sunshine expected alongside thin high clouds and occasional fair-weather cumulus clouds.
No rainfall is currently expected.
Night-time temperatures will generally drop to between 0°C and 5°C, although sheltered frost-prone areas may briefly see light frost by dawn.
During the day, temperatures should rise to a pleasant 16°C to 20°C, while a north-westerly to westerly breeze may become lively in several regions.
Easter Sunday brings the warmest weather
The highlight of the long weekend is likely to be Easter Sunday, when sunny skies and only a few small clouds are expected across most of Hungary.
No precipitation is forecast, making it excellent weather for family outings, spring walks and Easter events.
Early morning temperatures will fall to 1°C to 6°C, though colder pockets may still occur in valleys and frost hollows.
By the afternoon, temperatures are expected to climb to between 18°C and 22°C, making it the warmest day of the holiday weekend.
Easter Monday remains pleasant, but northern showers possible
The mild spring weather is expected to continue into Easter Monday, with mostly sunny skies and only occasional high and cumulus clouds.
However, northern Hungary may see temporary cloudier spells, and a few passing showers cannot be ruled out in the northern half of the country.
Winds will turn north-westerly, becoming strong across large northern areas.
Morning lows are expected to be between 3°C and 10°C, while afternoon highs could reach 17°C to 23°C.
Excellent weather for Easter travel in Hungary
Overall, the Easter long weekend is shaping up to be one of the most pleasant spring holiday periods so far this year in Hungary, offering comfortable temperatures, lots of sunshine and very limited rainfall.
For tourists visiting Budapest, Lake Balaton or Hungary’s countryside destinations, the forecast suggests excellent conditions for city breaks, festivals, markets and family excursions.
