Szijjártó welcomes Polish ruling party’s election victory
The victory of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party at Sunday’s general election is of great importance “and the best of news” to Hungary, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Monday.
According to the first results published on Monday morning, PiS won garnering 49.3 percent of the vote, comfortably ahead of the Civic Platform (22.3 percent) and the Democratic Left Alliance (10.9 percent).
Commenting on the results, Szijjártó noted that “very serious procedures” are under way against Hungary and Poland in the European Union.
It seems Hungary “will continue to have an ally we can always count on” in those procedures, he said.
Hungary and Poland could only count on one another in the most difficult situations, Szijjártó said.
As we wrote before, a high speed railway service is being planned to link Budapest and Warsaw. New updates on the project were released, details HERE.
