Hungary is a country that is growing in popularity as a holiday destination. That is because it has much to offer those who want to avoid the more obvious places.
The country boasts the same mix of historic attractions, beautiful scenery, and modern entertainment that you will find in other European nations. All of those come with a uniquely Hungarian twist, though.
In this article, we will take a look at the places that no holidaymaker in Hungary can afford to miss. From casinos to castles, here are the best things to do during a trip to the country.
Corvin Casino
Hungary is home to a fair number of casinos – although most of them are based within its capital city of Budapest. The largest of them all is the Corvin.
If you are one of the many people who have discovered the joys of playing slots online at sites like Bally Bet, you may want to try out the gaming on offer at this venue. It has over 260 slot machines to choose from.
That is not the limit of the gaming, though, as there are lots of table games too. The casino has five tables for card games and American Roulette.
It can be found in Budapest’s 8th district and both Hungarian currency and Euros can be used for playing its games.
Eszterházy Castle
One thing that Hungary is certainly not short of is castles, so you should be able to visit one during your trip whatever part of the country you are in. If you have decided to holiday in western Hungary, Eszterházy Castle will be a must-see.
This remarkable building takes its name from Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy, who constructed it. It is the single biggest baroque-rococo structure in the country and has been nicknamed the ‘Hungarian Versailles’.
The place to find it is the town of Fertod, where it is the main tourist attraction. The palace is a vast interconnected complex with beautiful gardens at its centre. There are 26 rooms to explore, filled with paintings and other fine art pieces.
No trip to Hungary is complete without a castle visit and this one should be at the top of your list.
Gyukli Pince
Hungary is not a country that people generally associate with winemaking, but in fact it is a major contributor to the economy. That is partly down to the production of wine, but also to the tourist appeal of its vineyards.
There are several of them that visitors can choose between, but the Gyukli Pince vineyard offers a fantastic guided tour. It can be found in the town of Balatonfüred, which is a beautifully scenic part of the country.
