The jubilee Csabai Sausage Festival starts today
On Thursday, 20 October, the 25th anniversary of the Csabai Sausage Festival begins. During the four-day festival, so many sausages will be made that their combined length would encircle Békéscsaba.
Sándor Hégely, the director of the Csabai Sausage Festival, pointed out that the biggest attractions of the festival are the kneading competitions. There can be more than a thousand teams stuffing sausages. The length of the sausages made in four days would stretch around Békéscsaba.

The opening day is free of charge. On Thursday, a sausage making competition for kindergarten and primary school children will be held, with over 100 teams expected. On Friday, it will be the turn of high school and university students, writes sokszinuvidek.hu.
Saturday is the day of the most interesting international fresh sausage making competition. While on Sunday, the focus will be on NGOs, pensioners’ clubs, large families and people with fewer opportunities.
The Csabai Kolbászklub is one of the most populous NGOs in Békéscsaba. Not only gastronomy but also music is a central theme of the festival. Renowned Hungarian performers, children’s programmes, DJs, folk dancing and dog shows are among the programmes.
