Perhaps the best time to enjoy this ride is around New Year’s Eve. There is no classier way to welcome the New Year than gazing out the window as the train passes by the snowy scenery of Austria and Hungary. The trip is completed by the New Year’s Eve gala dinner at Vienna’s city hall.
The Danube Express has been operating since 2008. It offers three categories of comfort (Superior DeLuxe, DeLuxe, and Heritage classes), a dining car, a bar, and a lounge. It travels several routes, most often to Istanbul but frequently also to Austria, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
