These are the most expensive rural cities in Hungary
It may not come to you as a surprise that the most expensive properties in Hungary are found in the capital city. If we exclude Budapest, the TOP 10 most expensive municipalities are mostly located in the Balaton region and Pest County.
The most expensive municipalities in the country
Based on the recently published information of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, Ingatlanadattár, Magyarországi Wohnungspreise, portfolio.hu has compiled the list of the most expensive rural towns.
All the cities that made it to the TOP10 list are situated either in the Lake Balaton region or in Pest county. The list, which examines average prices per square metre, includes single-family houses, flats and multi-family condominiums for sale in 2021. You may find the most pricey rural cities below:
- Zamárdi
- Balatonfüred
- Balatonlelle
- Biatorbágy
- Budaörs
- Budakalász
- Budakeszi
- Balatonalmádi
- Dunakeszi
- Diósd
The most expensive urban settlement in Hungary is Zamárdi. Here, the average price per square metre is HUF 797,000 (EUR 2021.59). The two other settlements on the podium are Balatonfüred and Balatonlelle, also located around Lake Balaton. In the fourth place, we find Biatorbágy, a cosy family town in Pest County. The most sought-after settlement was Dunakeszi, with 471 sales registered in 2021.
The list is subject to change
The ranking changes if only the average prices of detached houses are taken into account. In this list, Szentendre and Siófok have been included in the top 10 instead of Balatonlelle and Biatorbágy. Balatonfüred came first with a price of HUF 750,000 (EUR 1902.51) per square metre.
The order is changing again in the case of panel housing. There were no such sales in Zamárdi while Biatorbágy in Pest County is topping the list with an average price of HUF 721,000 (EUR 1828.94) per square metre. It is worth noting that compared to the original list, only four settlements remained in the list of top 10 panel apartments for sale. In addition to Biatorbágy, Budaörs, Budakeszi and Balatonfüred were also included.
