Three Budapest scenic trams to commute on a shorter line from today!
Because of the 28-30 April papal visit in Hungary, construction works must start in the heart of Budapest’s downtown. Therefore, tram nr 2, 2B and 23 will operate on a shorter line from Friday, 14 April until 7 May.
According to MTI, the Hungarian News Agency, the aforementioned trams will only commute to the Kossuth Lajos Square station between 14 April and 7 May. That is because several construction projects need to start in connection with the end-April visit of Pope Francis in Budapest.
BKK, Budapest’s transport company, said they would not launch replacement buses between the Kossuth Lajos Square and Jászai Mari Square tram stations. They recommend that passengers use metro line nr 2 or bus nr 15 to commute between the Kossuth Lajos Square station and the Szent István promenade, the border street between Budapest 5th and 13th districts.
MTI added that Hungary’s public media would report on every part of Pope Francis’s April visit.
