Important: Traffic and public transport changes in Budapest for Hungary vs. Türkiye match at Puskás Aréna today

Today, 23 March, at 6:00 PM, the Puskás Aréna in Budapest will host the UEFA Nations League football match between Hungary and Türkiye. In anticipation of this event, several traffic and public transportation adjustments will be implemented in the vicinity of the stadium starting from 3:00 PM.

Public transportation recommendations

Due to limited parking options around the Puskás Aréna, attendees are strongly encouraged by the Budapest Transport Centre to use public transportation, which will operate on increased frequencies to accommodate the event.

  • M2 and M4 metro lines: Travellers from the city centre can take these lines to Keleti railway station (Keleti pályaudvar), then proceed on foot via Verseny Street and Dózsa György Road to reach the stadium.
  • M2 metro line: Those coming from Örs Vezér Square should alight at Puskás Ferenc Stadion station and walk along Kerepesi Road and Dózsa György Road to the venue.
  • 1 tram line: Passengers can disembark at the Egressy Road/Hungária Boulevard stop for access to the Stefánia Road entrances (Gates IX, X, XIII) or at Puskás Ferenc Stadion M stop for the Dózsa György Road entrances (Gates III, VI).
  • Buses on Thököly Road: These buses will stop at Reiner Frigyes Park for Dózsa György Road entrances and at Stefánia Road/Thököly Road stop for Stefánia Road entrances.

Road closures

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic between approximately 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM:

  • Dózsa György Road between Thököly Road and Kerepesi Road
  • Stefánia Road between Thököly Road and Hungária Boulevard
  • Ifjúság Road between Kerepesi Road and Stefánia Road
  • Verseny Street and Istvánmezei Road

Public transport modifications

To facilitate smooth transportation before and after the match, the following changes will be in effect:

  • Increased frequency: M2 and M4 metro lines, as well as the 1 tram line, will run more frequently.
  • Bus adjustments:
    • The 30 bus will operate via Thököly Road–Dózsa György Road in both directions, skipping the Verseny Street stop.
    • The 75 and 75A trolleybuses will run on the 79 line route up to Keleti Pályaudvar M terminal, bypassing stops between Ötvenhatosok Square and Kápolna Square.
    • The 77 trolleybus will be rerouted from Stefánia Road to Hungária Boulevard, with boarding available at the 75A trolleybus terminal or the 901 bus stop (Óbuda direction) near Puskás Ferenc Stadion.

Alternative transportation

For those considering cycling, the MOL Bubi bike-sharing system is a viable option, with docking stations available near metro stations and surrounding streets, BKK writes.

Planning your journey

Attendees are advised to plan their trips using the BudapestGO application, which provides real-time public transport information and ticket purchasing options.

By adhering to these guidelines and utilising public transportation, spectators can ensure a smooth and efficient journey to and from the Puskás Aréna for the Hungary vs. Türkiye match.
