Travel through time in Hungary by the retro train this spring!
Retro trains will run between Győr and Veszprém in the coming months in connection with the Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture events. The train will run twice between the two cities from the end of April on spring weekends, the Bakonyvasút Association told MTI on Tuesday.
They said that the retro train, which also features a vintage bistro car, will run on 29-30 April, 1 May, 6-7 May, 13-14 May and 20-22 May. The Bakonyvasút Association offers all-day buffets at Porva-Csesznek on all the weekends concerned.
The retro train will make two daily departures, from Győr at 10.13 AM and 4.13 PM and from Veszprém at 1.35 PM and 7.35 PM.
MÁV-Start Zrt. is planning to improve services on the Győr-Veszprém railway line with the Slovakian state railway company to provide a more flexible approach to the events of the Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture programme.
If the agreement is concluded in the coming days, an international train will run from 28 April to 2 October on the Bratislava Petrzalka – Győr – Veszprém route and back. It will run every day except Tuesday and Wednesday from 28 April to 12 June and from 7 September to 2 October, and daily from 13 June to 6 September, the announcement says.
