Two French nationals charged with attempted theft of Parliament column piece
Budapest, June 13 (MTI) – Police have raised charges against two French citizens who are suspected of having tried to steal a decorative column fragment from one of Parliament’s closed terraces, Budapest’s chief prosecutor Tibor Ibolya said on Monday.
Ibolya said that on March 19 a 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman climbed over a barricade in front of one of Parliament’s entrances and snuck onto the terrace.
They removed a column fragment but were stopped by patrol officers while attempting to make their getaway.
The prosecution is seeking a fine for the suspects.
