Two new brands enter to Budapest hotel market – PHOTOS

The Hungarian capital boasts a number of exclusive hotels. Soon, another two brands are arriving in Budapest. IHG Hotels & Resorts and WING have signed an agreement to bring the Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express hotel brands to Budapest. By entering the domestic market, the two resorts will add a total of 265 rooms to the Budapest capacity.

Premium and mid-range hotel segments to grow

According to a related press release sent to turizmusonline.hu, IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, and WING, one of the leading real estate developers and investors in the Central European real estate market, have agreed to bring two new brands to Budapest.

The contract signed at the EXPO Real 2023 real estate fair in Munich marks the Hungarian debut of two new brands and the expansion of the premium and medium (‘essentials’) hotel segment in Hungary.

The new hotels: under what name, where and when?

The Hotel Indigo Budapest Andrássy in the 6th district of Budapest is expected to open in the second quarter of 2028. It will offer 103 rooms, a bar and a restaurant. The resort will be located in a premium location on the World Heritage-listed Andrássy Avenue, close to the new museum district in the City Park, turizmusonline.hu writes.

The Holiday Inn Express Vágóhíd will open in early 2027 in the 9th with 162 rooms. It will be located at the southern gateway to the city centre, close to the National Theatre, MÜPA Budapest and the National Athletics Centre, which recently hosted the World Athletics Championships.

With 145 hotels around the world under the Hotel Indigo brand and a further 128 hotels in the pipeline, the agreement signed is another important step in the brand’s dynamic expansion. Holiday Inn Express is the world’s largest hotel brand, with over 3,000 hotels and more than 330,000 rooms in 50 countries.

World-famous brands come to Budapest

Willemijn Geels, IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Vice President of European Development, said, “The agreements just signed show the owner’s confidence in the new brands. Both hotel brands are very popular with the target audience.”
