Hungarian taxi companies in trouble? Uber reaches another milestone to relaunch service in Budapest
Uber reached another milestone to relaunch its service in Budapest by starting to recruit drivers in the Hungarian capital. The American ridesharing company left Hungary in 2016 and announced its comeback this year in cooperation with Budapest’s Főtaxi.
According to totalcar.hu, drivers aiming to join Uber in Budapest can register in the ridesharing company’s app. That possibility was not available before May. Thus, recruiting new drivers began only this month, marking a new milestone in the company’s return to Budapest.
Uber will enter the Budapest market by using the taxi fares of the capital. Furthermore, its cars must meet the requirements of traditional taxis.
Uber told telex.hu before that first cars would appear on the streets of Budapest in early summer. However, they did not share an exact date for service restart.
