Amazing cruises: Pre-season for navigation on Lake Balaton begins!
On 1 June, the pre-season for navigation on Lake Balaton begins, so cruises depart from all ports on weekends, and priority ports await their passengers on weekdays as well.
BAHART, Balaton Shipping Company announced that it will continue to offer its passengers a varied programme of activities with a varied timetable during the sailing season. From harbours of Badacsony, Balatonföldvár, Balatonfüred, Fonyód, Siófok, Tihany and Tihanyrév, ships will depart daily, while from the other 10 ports of Lake Balaton, they will depart on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the pre-season starting 1 June.
Pleasure boats are back for the pre-season
Until 5 July, passengers can enjoy one-hour cruises in 8 ports. The sunset cruise program is also back on schedule, which is very popular among visitors. In addition to the denser schedule, several nostalgia boats depart from Balatonfüred and Siófok, and passengers can take a sightseeing boat tour from Balatonboglár or Révfülöp. The boat trip is 75 minutes long and you can get a 25% discount on return tickets.
May was a successful month for navigation on Lake Balaton, Turizmus.com reports. Thanks to the new ships, the tighter schedule and the favourable weather, there was outstanding traffic on BAHART’s ships. The sailing company expanded its fleet with four new ships this year. The 178th sailing season started with the inauguration of two ferries and catamarans.
Many passengers enjoyed Pentecost Sunday on the Lake. On this day, the two new ferries and the two old ones between Szántód and Tihany ran continuously, with a busier schedule. According to the company, the ships transported nearly 14,500 passengers, more than 3,500 vehicles, and a record number of nearly 2,900 bicycles between the two coasts.
Fonyód and Badacsony passengers crossed Lake Balaton. Among the cruise departures, the Balatonfüred harbour was the most popular, where more than 1,100 people enjoyed a cruise on one of the Jókai and Csobánc nostalgia ships on Sunday alone.
Bicycle transport is also available on Lake Balaton
The most popular route for cyclists is still the route between Fonyód and Badacsony, on which 1,250 passengers travelled during the Pentecost weekend. Boats with a large bicycle capacity operate between the two coasts, including the Balatonboglár-Révfülöp route on Fridays and weekends. Based on this year’s data, the number of cyclists in the Balaton area is twice as many as it was last year, thus the company also helps cyclists by installing extra bicycle racks in the harbours.
