Formula 1 is coming and the 12-year old lap record of Hungaroring is expected to be broken

According to the event calendar of hungaroring.hu, there is not much time left until the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix kicks off on July 22. Index.hu writes that the lap record of Hungaroring, which was set 12 years ago, is now in danger.

Based on the preliminary calculations of Pirelli, the company responsible for the tire supply, during the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix on July 22-24 a new lap record might replace the record (1:18.436) set by Rubens Barrichello in 2004. Last year, for instance, Lewis Hamilton got quite close to it as he gained the pole position by 1:22.020.

The track has been re-asphalted this spring, and as the new asphalt is very dark, it might further warm the surface, which results in the increase of the adhesion of the tires, fastening the cars. The F1 cars already proved to be 2-4 seconds faster this year than last year, therefore, the new lap record seems rather likely.

The opinion of the race engineer of Pirelli, Mario Isola, is that a new record is certainly probable to be set. Especially when bearing in mind that, as the adhesion increases, the cars get faster and faster. Though, this also means that the durability of the tires would decrease and the super soft and soft tires could keep on for fewer rounds than earlier.

However, these possibilities all depend on the dog days to arrive by Sunday, as the forecasts suggest a temperature of 28-30 degrees with lots of sunshine for Friday to Sunday. Thus, it will turn out soon, but regardless of the record, the Hungarian Grand Prix will surely be an amazing experience for all those who attend.
