The audience of the first event of the 2016-2018 World Cup Series, held in Cottbus (GER) on November 19-20, could witness the comeback of a major Hungarian gymnast, Krisztián Berki, writes origo.hu. The Olympic, World, and European Champion Berki was undefeatable at the pommel horse event.

He performed the elements without making any mistakes, thus, he won his first World Cup event abroad after his one-year hiatus. Apart from Berki, another Hungarian was also involved in the pommel horse event: Zoltán Kállai became ranked sixth.
The female members of the Hungarian delegation did not rest either: the 16-year-old Zsófia Kovács won a gold medal for her excellent performances on uneven bars and balance beam, and a bronze medal for vault. Furthermore, Olympic Champion Dorina Böczögő earned a silver medal for uneven bars and vault, and she also won a bronze one for balance beam.
As the International Gymnastics Federation put it: “Hungarian harvest: seven medals”
[Adding the titles of Zsófia Kovács, an emerging star on the European scene] to 2012 Olympic champion Kriszti[á]n Berki’s winning turn on Pommel Horse, [Hungary won] three of the 10 titles up for grabs in Cottbus, the most of any nation. Two-time Olympian Dorina [Böczögő] chipped in with three medals of her own…to bring the Hungarian count to seven overall.
Congratulations to the gymnasts for their wonderful performances and results!
