Video: Cordon-breaking outside PM Orbán’s office
Shortly after 9 AM on Tuesday, independent and opposition politicians dismantled the cordons in front of the Carmelite monastery, Budapest, Hungary. The building houses PM Viktor Orbán’s office. The operation involved the parliamentary faction of Momentum and independent opposition politician Ákos Hadházy. Police tried to stop the politicians, with little success.
The politicians wanted to fix the poster “Seven points for the renewal of Hungary” to the main entrance of the Carmelite monastery. However, the police blocked this with their bodies. Finally, they managed to stick it on the wall, 444.hu reports. Among the demands were the restoration of freedom of the press, the abolition of the special legal order, free elections or the end of corruption organised from within government circles.
444.hu quoted Hadházy as saying that the cordon is a symbol of lying. This house, the Carmelite, is the centre of the propaganda machine. The masses must believe that results can be achieved, he said.
The politicians then went to the other side of the street, where they also dismantled the barriers. The police had set up a line, but did not intervene. The action ended at about half past nine.
The cordons were erected in front of the monastery a year and a half ago. Their purpose may be to keep the press out.

These politicians must be honest to the Hungarian public. This would be impossible in Western Europe. Look at how peaceful protesters are treated in Holland, France, Germany etc. If they had done this in the West, they would be arrested and almost certainly beaten if the didn’t stop. It is amazing how relaxed the Hungarian police is handling this.
About freedom of speech or free press. In Western Europe, people are demonized or even prosecuted if they criticize the liberal left ideology, liberal “democracy”, climate measures, gender and LGBTQ+ propaganda at schools and the multiculturalism, mass immigration, asylum laws. MSM in Western Europe is in the hands of a few owners or of the government or paid by them. (for example Germany). The MSM in the West only promotes the liberal left ideology and demonizes every other view or person/opposition who doesn’t support the liberal left world-view.
This is reality! Do I have problems with some policies of Fidesz? Yes, more than one subject! But how crazy6 it5 may look at some Hungarians on t5he liberal left, Hungary is still more free (speech and media) then in the countries in Western Europe.
I totally agree with @Géza Hegedűs.
Lol. And you think there is freedom of speech or freedom of press in Hungary? All that you read in Newspaper or see on TV is controlled by your government. Sounds more like China and Russia than Western Europe.
In France, for example, freedom of press allows different magazines to have different opinions on societal matters. There are right-wing magazines, left-wing magazines,, communist …. Your Hungarian press only says what Orban wants.
Don’t talk about something you don’t know. If you think you’re “free” in Hungary, you’re clearly delusional. Teachers are not even allowed to strike in this country. Doctors couldn’t talk to the press during Covid. Your own loved Fidesz group doesn’t even want to debate with other political parties.
I totally agree with @Renault
Dictatorship isn’t compatible with independent media.
