VIDEO: Fire broke out in one of Budapest’s busiest squares at night

Firefighters swiftly tackled a fire at Blaha Lujza Square in downtown Budapest, with reassuring news that no injuries were reported.

On Wednesday night, a fire broke out near the Lidl store at the intersection of Blaha Lujza Square in Budapest’s 8th district, as per RTL HĂ­radĂ³.

A reader captured a video of the incident, revealing that a warehouse was ablaze, prompting the arrival of several firefighters and police officers on the scene.

In response to the newspaper’s inquiry, the Disaster Management Department said that the fire originated at Blaha Lujza Square, specifically at the intersection of RĂ¡kĂ³czi Road and ErzsĂ©bet Boulevard. Plastic and paper containers were reportedly in flames across an area spanning approximately 5-6 square metres.

“Under the guidance of the disaster management operational service, the capital’s firefighters quickly extinguished the flames with a water jet, inspected the staircase from the fire-affected doorway and the apartment above the warehouse. No one was injured in the fire,” they affirmed.

  1. Thank-God no human injury’s nor property.
    The “new” Blaha Lujza Square is such a delight than in recent past years, that saw it, a place frequented by mass numbers of people, who had “fallen” on hard times.
    It was UGLY.
    The Lidl corner side and I have used this platform previous and written to the District Mayor, that side of Blaha Lujza the Lidl side remains REVOLTING and needs URGENT attention. The bus stop area is an ABSOLUTE disgrace.

  2. Repair and clean it up –
    I couldn’t agree more – the whole street to the beautiful train station needs help- I guess they thought painting the bare aluminum traffic lighting a warm piss color was going to improve things.
