VIDEO: Iconic bridge of Budapest, the Chain Bridge, has changed a lot in one year
In mid-December, the roadbed of the more than 150-year-old Chain Bridge was reopened, finally allowing traffic to cross Budapest’s iconic bridge again. A video of the renovation work in progress was also made, showing the spectacular changes.
Although the renovation is still ongoing, some users can already use the reopened Chain Bridge. MagyarÉpÃtÅ‘k’s video crew captured this special moment the day before the opening, showing the last day before the bridge enters another phase of its life.

The change from last year is very striking and is best seen by comparing it to last year’s video. The refurbishment of the Chain Bridge is not yet complete, but the progress is impressive, as this comparison shows: a qualitative change in the last year at the capital’s iconic crossing.

Has been FASCINATING watching the “Re-birth” of the Chain Bridge.
Taken Bus 16 since re-opening couple occasions across to Szell Kalman and back – and just comforting to citizens and tourist to have this European ICON of a Bridge operating again.
Private Motor Vehicles – continue to take the long way to Buda or Pest.
Thank-You again to craft people and ALL who have played an integral part and roles – in the Re-birth of our Chain Bridge.
