The 37th Festival of Folk Arts was opened in the Buda Castle by the state secretary for culture on Friday who stated that the event had become “a point of reference”, with many people adjusting their summer calendar to the festival.
Magdolna Závogyán said that the Festival of Folk Arts had always been linked to the August 20th national holiday celebrating King Stephen, the founder of the Hungarian state. The honorary guest of this year’s festival is Czechia and visitors can see the products of around 1,000 Hungarian and international craftspeople. The programme will include craft demonstrations, workshops, live music and dance lessons between Friday and Sunday.
