Watch out! New parking rule in this Budapest downtown district
Ferencváros, Budapest’s 9th district in the downtown, decided to help locals find a parking place. Therefore, they introduced draconic rules for those using local parking places but not living in Ferencváros. Read the details below.
According to Infostart, from next Monday, people can be fined HUF 10 thousand (EUR 25) if they let their cars in a residential parking place between 6 PM and 7 AM. Even green license plates are not exempted from the new rule. Between 7 AM and 6 PM, locals and non-locals can park in the district under the same conditions.
The local council introduced the new parking order in their session in February. The rule applies to the downtown section of the district. Its outer perimeter is Haller Street. In that section, there are 4,351 parking places. 1205 of them are exclusively for locals at night, that is 30 percent. Based on the data of the local government, only 10 percent of the drivers parked in the “wrong” place.
