According to the Independent, American film star Reese Witherspoon and her husband, Jim Toth of Hungarian origins will divorce after 11 years of seemingly happy marriage. They shared a joint statement yesterday saying that it was a difficult decision to continue their life separately before their 12th anniversary. They added that their biggest priority will be their 10-year-old son, Tenessee James Toth.

“It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce”, begins their statement. “We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together,” they continued. “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

Co-parenting is the key

A source told People magazine that the couple agreed to remain “best friends”. Furthermore, they are committed to co-parenting. Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth met at a house party in 2010, where he saved the American star from a drunk friend. They married in 2011 and their son was born a year later, in September 2012. That was the Oscar-winning star’s second marriage after Ryan Phillippe, with whom they share a daughter Ava Elizabeth (23), and a son, Deacon Reese (19). Witherspoon talked about co-parenting with her first husband in 2016. She cleared that Mr Phillippe is a wonderful man and organiser who enthusiastically loves their kids.

Jim Toth was born in America, but many of his family members still live in Hungary, telex.hu wrote.
