Wolf seen in Hungarian forest – VIDEO
There are relatively few wolves in Hungary, but this time, a hunter managed to film a wolf far from its usual habitat.
On the morning of 23 March, a local sports hunter was confronted by a wolf at the edge of the forest near Ács, Kemma news site reported. The wolf was chasing first rabbits and then deer, while the presence of the hunter did not really bother him. The local sports hunter also took a video of the animal, but the encounter was so unbelievable that he had to convince himself that he was not dealing with a giant jackal.
The hunter also said that the hunting club knew about the wolf and had sent a letter to the members informing them that they had seen a wolf on the Danube bank between Ács and Gönyü. They asked hunters to be extra careful if they saw it.
In Hungary, the common wolf population was greatly reduced by the end of the Second World War and then disappeared. In the 1980s, wolves reappeared in the North Central Mountains, where they have been a persistent presence ever since.
This also means the distance between Ács and the general habitat is 200-250 kilometers.
According to an expert, about 25-30 wolves are now in the country, about ten families, Turista magazine reports.
Although wolves are fearsome animals, no human has been attacked by a wolf in our country or other parts of Europe. Any direct conflicts with wolves can be traced to human errors and omissions.
As we wrote earlier, a Swiss wolf made an incredible journey to Hungary before being shot by a hunter, details HERE.
