Yekaterinburg senior consul dies after accident
Budapest, December 29 (MTI) – Pal Fabian, Hungary’s senior consul serving in Yekaterinburg, died on Tuesday, following a traffic accident, the Hungarian foreign ministry said.
The Hungarian diplomat suffered life-threatening injuries when his car collided with a lorry in Mesyagutovo in the Republic of Bashkiria on December 25, the ministry said in a statement.
Fabian was taken to a local hospital where he was operated on by a team of specialists from the city of Ufa. The senior consul, however, remained in critical condition, the ministry said.
Consul-General Sergei Szucs suspended his holidays in Hungary and returned to Yekaterinburg, it said.
