Youth Olympic Festival flame arrives in Győr
Győr, May 24 (MTI) – The Olympic flame for the 14th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) arrived at the Győr-Pér airport in north-western Hungary on Wednesday.
The flame was greeted by Zsolt Borkai, mayor of this year’s host city Győr, and prominent Hungarian athletes: swimmer Zsuzsanna Jakabos, handball player Anita Görbicz, judoka Hedvig Karakas, gymnast Krisztián Berki and hammer thrower Krisztián Pars.
The opening ceremony for the 14th EYOF is set to take place on July 23.
The festival will feature a total of 130 events in ten sports and 2,500 young athletes between the ages of 14 and 18 representing 50 countries are expected to compete. Hungary will have a record 152 athletes at the competitions.
