11 reasons to love Budapest in spring
Spring has been much awaited after the cold winter days, but it seems like it has arrived to Budapest. If you haven’t already, put away your winter coat and boots, and enjoy the beauty of the season in the city. Funzine.hu collected 11 reasons why we should be happy that spring is finally here 🙂
Starting off, you can go on walks in the city without freezing to death. If you want to enjoy the sunshine you should look for a familiar bench at Március 15 Square, for instance, make yourself comfortable and admire Danube and the beautiful environment while soaking up vitamin D.
You can also walk through the Elizabeth Bridge and climb up to Gellért Mountain, which offers a breath-taking panorama of the city, especially in springtime.
If you desire a more active way of relaxation and want to burn some winter calories, then you should occupy one of the popular running tracks in the city…
…or get yourself moving at an outdoor workout location.
Spending some time at the Margaret Island is almost obligatory in spring, because it is covered with colourful flowers that captivate everyone.
Besides your trench coat, you can also get your bicycle out of its winter hiding spot and conquer the city on two wheels.
Terraced places are slowly starting to open, out of which you can already visit Veranda at Kopaszi Dam, where divine pizzas are served.
After you’ve eaten, you should definitely drink something at another terrace, for instance at the beloved Bálna Terrace. Spring, sunset, rosé…
When the sun has set, visit Heroes’ Square and get mesmerised by its lights and the Budapest sign.
An even bigger attraction is Budapest Eye, which invites you on a 20-minute ride, during which you can see the whole city centre.
Top off the day by riding one of BKK’s boats, and enjoy the sway of Danube and the breath-taking cityscape.
