Palermo paid EUR 2.2 million for the Hungarian junior striker
According to blikk.hu, football player Norbert Balogh signed a contract to the Palermo football club, a leading team in Italy.
The 19-year-old junior striker will play in the club until June 30, 2020, and he chose the jersey No.22. The first training of Balogh was on Wednesday, as the website of the Sicilian club wrote.
The Italians paid EUR 2.2 million (HUF 694.1) for the player and he will earn EUR 2.8 million (883.4 million forints) in 4 and a half years.
He is the fourth new player in the club who has signed up in the winter. The Palermo is fighting for staying in the Serie A (the Italian top league).
Maurizio Zamparini, president of the team has great expectations:
“Balogh will be the new Cavanni, you will see. I paid 5 million euros for him plus bonuses, and I immediately said no to an English club which offered 10 million euros for him.”
Balogh was able to prove himself for the first time in the previous season, when he scored 5 goals for the Debrecen club DVSC, blikk.hu wrote.
Most recently Adam Simon was a Hungarian player in Palermo as well, but he was regularly lent to lower classes, and then to Hungary in the end.
