We have no reason to complain, it was an abundant year. Here you can find Funzine.hu’s old and new favourites, restaurants in Budapest where they will certainly return in 2018 as well.

Cavial & Bull

This restaurant is an urban pearl, following the footsteps of its Maltese alter ego, but the Hungarian influence can be seen in its interior and menu. Caviar & Bull uses local products, such as paprika, Tokaji Aszú, and Mangalica pig meat for its iconic dishes and Hungarian curiosities. If you would like to try special tastes in an amazing environment, you should visit Caviar & Bull Budapest, which has been one of the best restaurants according to TripAdvisor soon after its opening.

Black Cab Burger

One of the forerunners of the gastronomical revolution opened in Budapest in 2011. The name of Black Cab Burger has merged with juicy hamburgers ever since. The restaurant can be found both on Mester utca and Rákóczi út: two English style meeting points which offer English beers, soda, ciders, and hot dogs besides hamburgers. It is worth trying their seasonal offer. If you want to relive summer moments, it could be worth trying their Smoky Ranger burger in a toasted bun. But if you are a real gourmet who loves strong sices, Chili Burger will be your favourite. Besides providing the most delicious hamburgers to the people of Budapest,

Black Cab also popularises recycling by gathering leftovers and other garbage in different cans.

HILDA

HILDA can be found in the city centre, in a historical building. It reminds us of the French bistros. They do not only select their ingredients consciously but brings light elegance, simplicity, and excellence to the Hungarian capital’s gastronomic scene. They put a special emphasis on natural ingredients and opt for promoting local producers by preferring the local products. Since the quality of meat is of paramount importance to HILDA, they only work with eggs and poultry from free keeping. It is not surprising, then, that they got a great spot on our Best of 2017 list.

Prominent examples are the garnished salmon and goose liver sashimi, or the famous Alaskan cod filet grilled with Yuzus miso sauce.
