Budapest is in the focus of SWISS magazine

The SWISS magazine – the official board magazine of the Swiss airline – published an exciting and informative article about Budapest in their February issue, in fact, they even featured our capital city on the cover.

Besides the must-see sights like the bath culture, architecture and the matchless Central European charm, they mention important factors like small boutiques and the quickly spreading Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants. They chose photos and curiosities over excursive texts to introduce Budapest’s developing present.

“Scruffy, edgy, and, at times, down right weird (in the best ways). Budapest has all the charms of a European city – 19^th century coffee houses, Ottoman era baths, opulent places and gilded opera houses – but it retains a gloriously quirky side that’s increasingly hard to find in Europe.”

They mention initiations like the Colourful City project and its firewall-rehab model, they praise the new favourite of urbanistas, the Downtown Market, and also feature unmissable places like the Opera House and the Gellért Bath.

They also introduce creative local patriots. This is how, Cellist Zoltán Onczay, Chef Árpád Győrffy and DJ Candyman made it into the article. Kolbice is also mentioned in the Hungarian street food section along with Karaván to broaden the topic of diverse street food. “Hungray for Hungary? The Kobu at the Karaván is a burger-sausage hybrid wrapped in a sesame bun.” Moreover, the beloved Szimpla Kert couldn’t be missing either.

One of the greatest part is all about the favourites of local people, so that people can get to know the places and sights that we, Budapest dwellers actually visit and recommend. What’s even better is that they asked locals from different subcultures. This is how the Ecseri flee market, the Jewish cemetery, Sas Hill, Beszálló, Élesztő, Mészár Steak, Massolito, ZING Burger and Café Zsivágó gets mentioned.
