The Mol Bubi system was launched on Sept. 8 and since then 4,000 people bought weekly or monthly passes and thousands tried out the community bikes with a one-off rental, BKK said in a statement.
The 100,000th user was a lawyer from Budapest who said he had bought a pass on the day the system was launched and he uses the bicycles frequently for taking care of business in the city during the day, the statement said.
The number of rentals often exceeds 5,000 a day when the weather is nice, BKK said, adding that there are over 3,000 users even on a rainy day. One ride lasts 18 minutes on average, and the most popular Bubi stations are at Deak ter, Kalvin ter, Fovam ter, Szent Gellert ter and Nyugati ter, the BKK added.
