Titanic festival to show 34 films from 27 countries
Budapest (MTI) – The 24th international Titanic film festival will show 34 titles from 27 countries next month, the organisers said on Tuesday.
It will open with Swedish director Johannes Nyholm’s Giant about a 30-year-old autistic man, Rikard, on April 6.
One of the programme highlights will be the screening of Tony Palmer’s Bird On a Wire, a reconstructed documentary following Leonard Cohen on a tour in 1972. The renowned British director will be present at the event in Budapest.
The festival’s Doc section will also show recent films by Jim Jarmusch and David Lynch, said Allen Sorensen, the festival’s programme director from Denmark.
Hungarian director Ferenc Török’s b/w period drama 1945 set in a Hungarian village will have its domestic debut at the festival on April 8.
Titanic, running under the slogan “A festival that connects the world”, will close with the screening of American historical drama film Loving by Jeff Nichols on April 13.
