Temperature record broken in Budapest
On March 29, the temperature record was broken in Újpest, where temperature rose to 23.6°C, mno.hu and the Hungarian Meteorological Service (OMSZ) report.
The new record is 0.1 °C higher than the highest temperature recorded on this day in Budapest, which was measured in 1989 in Ferihegy.
Even though the temperature extremes have been measured since the beginning, it is still possible that higher or lower temperatures occurred from what was measured, or faulty measurements remain among the data, especially at the beginning of the 20th century, from which period our data exists mostly in handwritten records, says the OMSZ.
This is the second temperature record that was broken this spring. On February 28, the highest national maximum temperature record was broken in Kiszombor, where temperature rose to 21.6°C, a significant increase from the previous record of 19.7°C, measured in 1927 in Jászberény.
