Ideas for a Memorable Hungarian Hiking Date
If you’re planning a date but you’d like to do something a little different, then how about a hiking date? When it comes to hiking, it’s all about location, location, location. So, if you’re planning a hiking date in Hungary, then we’ve got three great ideas to help create the perfect one. We’ve included enough variety to suit different tastes and make your hiking date, memorable – for all the right reasons!
Walk along the Danube
The Danube is a world-famous river and a walk it along can be highly romantic. First of all, you could cross one or more of Budapest’s well-known bridges:
- The Chain Bridge – Széchenyi Lánchíd
- Liberty Bridge – Szabadság híd
- Elisabeth Bridge – Erzsébet híd
- Margaret Bridge – Margit híd
- Petőfi Bridge – Petőfi híd
- The Árpád Bridge – Árpád híd
- The Rákóczi – Rákóczi híd
If you include the Chain Bridge on your trip, find a spot to attach your ‘love lock’. Or, if you’re not quite at that stage just yet, earmark the perfect position and return at a later date!
If you don’t want to walk around with the many other tourists who are enjoying the beauty of the capital, then it’s best to head out of town. The Danube runs across the country, so there’s plenty of opportunity to find a quieter spot to hike along.
Go Hunting for Atilla the Hun Artefacts
A way to add a bit of adventure to your romantic hiking date could be to go looking for some artefacts relating to the time of Attila the Hun. The historic figure is well-known and artefacts said to be related to him have been found all across Hungary.
To make it more fun you could ‘plant’ treasure the day before, or morning of your hike, to ‘find’ while you’re out on your date.
End Your Hike with Amazing Ice Cream
Hungary might not be internationally known for its ice cream, but once you get a taste of the amazing flavors on offer, it’s something you won’t forget! The Bacs-Kiscun area is home to the town of Soltvadkert where you can try out some ice cream flavours you’ve never had before, at Szent Korona Cukrászda.
Soltvadkert is in a national park and gives you plenty of scope to work up an appetite on a fun hike across the area’s mainly flat land.
Of course, that’s not the only fantastic ice cream parlour in Hungary, not by a long shot! But it’s one that is sure to become a favorite.
Still Unsure? Then Start Small
If you’re still not convinced about these Hungarian hiking ideas, why not try a short, small one in an area you love to give it a test drive? Then, if you and your date have enjoyed the change of pace, make a few plans for the future.
But, when it comes to dating, most outings are enjoyable no matter where you go – provided you pick the right person to go with!
