Estonian PM Juri Ratas held talks in Budapest
Budapest, May 22 (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with his Estonian colleague Juri Ratas who paid a visit to Budapest to present the programme of his country’s upcoming European Union presidency during the second half of 2017.
Hungary has always maintained excellent and close ties with Estonia, Orbán told reporters after the talks in Parliament.
An important task for the EU for the upcoming period is to increase the bloc’s competitiveness and ensure that Brexit benefits both the EU and Britain.
Another important task is to make progress in digital transformation and also to strengthen defence cooperation, Orbán said, adding that he and his Estonian partner discussed the issue of migration as well.
Juri Ratas called it important that Estonia as rotating EU president in July-December would not solely pursue its own objectives but take into consideration the objectives of other member states.
