Hungarian Tastes for Christmas – Erzsébet Square
Flavoured cream cheese, smoked ham from Transylvania, acacia honey mixed with pálinka and cinnamon, and chocolate specialties await visitors at the Christmas market of Hungarian flavours.
The market is organized for the eighth time between December 12 and 23 at Erzsébet Square, admission is free. For eight days, more than sixty domestic and cross-border Hungarian producers will be present; the products can be tasted and bought as well.
Cheese is in the focus: smoked parenica, mozzarella, cream cheese with onion, paprika, parsley and garlic will be offered. Cross-border products are represented by smoked ham from Gyergyószentmiklós, homemade bacon, white sausage (without paprika), wild boar salami, and homemade liverwurst.
Special honey is also offered: acacia honey flavoured with pálinka, wine or liqueur, but honey with orange, lemon, cinnamon, elderberry or lavender will also be available. Moreover, there will be chocolate creamed honey, too. Mulled wine (from quality Hungarian wines) will be made, and hot brown cherry beer will also be available.
There will also be a variety of sweets: producers come with pumpkin-, poppy- and nut oil, beigli of several flavours, Christmas fondants, and chocolate specialties. For children, programs will be organized every weekend: making gingerbread and chimney cake, roasting chestnut.
