Wizz Air launches new flights to Norway and Switzerland
From next spring on, there will be two weekly flights to Stavanger, Norway, and five to Basel, Switzerland, according to Wizz Air’s announcement made at a press conference on Thursday – reports travelo.hu.
Wizz Air is quite busy this year: two weeks ago the first Budapest-Astana line was introduced; there are two weekly flights to the capital of Kazakhstan. In May, the company announced that a Saint Petersburg-Budapest route will be available from August, which will become the second Hungary-Russia line, following the Moscow-Budapest route.
Now, Wizz Air targeted Norway’s fourth most populated city, Stavanger, making this the second Norwegian destination available from Hungary. Furthermore, they also aim for Basel. Basel’s airport, the Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg EuroAirport, is situated at a very special point where France, Germany and Switzerland meet.
The Stavanger-Budapest flights will be available from March 2018, on every Thursday and Sunday. According to the current plans, they will be available during the whole year. The lines to Basel will be available from May 2018, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The cheapest tickets for both of the lines are 30 euros.
This announcement marks the point where Wizz Air connects Hungary to 71 destinations in 30 different countries both in and outside Europe. The two airports where these flights take off from are at Budapest and Debrecen. This year’s new destinations are Faro, Bordeaux, the home of red wines, Hannover, Bergen, Lamezia Terme, but they also focused on the Western Balkan cities like Skopje, Podgorica, Pristina, Sarajevo and Tirana.
Since there is a huge interest in traveling via air, Wizz Air decided to make the flights available from Budapest more frequently, thus, there might be an additional four weekly flights on each line between Budapest and Rome, Fiumicino, Moscow, Barcelona, Tel-Aviv, Madrid, Saint Petersburg, Keflavik, Kutaisi, Porto, Tirana, Podgorica, Skopje.
