Budapest Wine Bar Tour Reloaded
To build on the success of last year’s events the Hungarian Tourism Agency and Wineglass Communication is relaunching Budapest Wine Bar Tour starting from 6 July 2017. In almost thirty locations a hundred cellars will welcome wine lovers in the Hungarian capital. A new feature this year is the introduction of thematic programmes by the wine bars: beyond wine tasting guests can enjoy culinary and musical events.
„The purpose of Budapest Wine Bar Tour is to highlight the variety and wealth of Hungarian wine regions with the assistance of the most important wine producing communities, societies and associations. Our primal aim is to show tourists looking for domestic holidays and leisure that it is worthwhile to complement their holidays with visits to wine producing regions to see wineries and meet winemakers”, said Zsófia Bánhegyi the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian Tourism Agency at the press conference of the launch of the 2nd Budapest Wine Bar Tour. „Budapest Wine Bar Tour provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate that Hungarian wineries are open to visitors and they welcome guests with individual stories and in doing so raise the profile of Hungarian wines both to domestic and foreign tourists”, added Ms. Bánhegyi.
Last year as part of the 1st Budapest Wine Bar Tour Hungarian wine regions introduced themselves, this year the participating wine bars host various winemaking communities. This way visitors can taste an even wider selection of exciting wines at these locations, furthermore the hosts have organized additional thematic events: beyond wine tasting guests can enjoy culinary and musical events. The organizers’ hope is that this way guests interested in Budapest wine bars and Hungarian wine regions can enjoy an even more complete experience. This time visitors seeking better understanding of our wine regions will be enlightened not only by the winemakers themselves but also by various travel and gastronomy brochures. The purpose of the events is to encourage an increasing number of people to participate in summer and autumn wine tourism and explore wine regions.
Guests are welcome by the bars participating in the Budapest Wine Bar Tour on Thursday, July 6 from 16:00 until 22:00. This year’s schedule is focused on winemaking communities and novelties so for example this is the first time that guests can meet the group of Pannonhalma winemakers or Tarcal Bor with nine participating wineries.
Besides tasting wines, participants in a new programme supported by ImagineBudapest can discover the hidden links between Budapest and wine through a network of walks connecting the wine bars. These guided tours are free of charge, however, registration on the ImagineBudapest web site is required. This event is an integral part of the project through which the Hungarian Tourism Agency aims to propagate Hungarian wine culture and to shape public attitude towards wine consumption.
