Air Cargo Handling conference in Budapest
According to the offical site of airport, Budapest Airport is hosting another major aviation conference in the Hungarian capital. No less than 300 aviation experts, including executives from cargo airlines, international logistics companies and airports, have arrived from all over the world for the event, which focuses on three different areas of air cargo transportation.
Air cargo traffic in Hungary has been increasing dynamically over the past months, even exceeding the double-digit growth rate registered in passenger traffic.
This is attributable partly to the advantageous location of Budapest Airport in the heart of Central Europe, and also to the rapid increase in demand for exports for the Hungarian economy. Budapest Airport has implemented significant developments in cargo over the past years, in order to keep pace with the steadily growing aerial and ground logistics needs. State-of-the-art logistics facilities, consisting of warehouse and office areas, were constructed for TNT and DHL Express near Terminal 1 and handed over this summer. As we wrote last week, two state-of-the-art express facilities have opened at Budapest Airport, as part of the EUR 160million (HUF50 billion) BUD:2020 Development Programme.
Next year, Budapest Airport will begin the construction of a new air cargo base, called the Cargo City, near Terminal 2, as part of its BUD2020 development program.
The dynamic growth of air cargo in Budapest also leads to the creation of new, highly skilled jobs in the Southern Pest region.
