GE to add 1,000 staff at Budapest service centre
Budapest, February 13 (MTI) – GE will raise headcount at its service centre in Budapest by around one thousand this year, just a year after it opened, news portal Napi.hu said on Friday.
Shane Fitzsimons, who heads GE’s Global Operations, said the decision to make more hires was taken because all of GE’s businesses are represented in Hungary, where it employs more than 13,500 people, and because of the highly qualified local workforce.
Already 900 staff work at the service centre in Budapest, up from 200 when it opened.
The centre handles invoicing, IT, HR and supply chain for GE’s operations in some 40 countries in Europe, in Russia and in the Middle East.
The centre is constructing another building next to its base on Vaci ut, an office corridor in the capital. The new staff are expected to move in in the summer.
