‘On Body and Soul’ gets four nominations for European Film Award
The European Film Academy has nominated Ildikó Enyedi’s romantic drama “On Body and Soul” in four categories for a European Film Award, a record for a Hungarian film.
The some 3,200 members of the academy nominated “On Body and Soul”, which was made with the support of the Hungarian National Film Fund, for best film, best director and best screenplay. They also nominated Alexandra Borbély in the best actress category.
The nominations were announced at the Seville Film Festival on Saturday.
“As before with this film, upon hearing the marvelous news of a cascade of nominations my first and strongest feeling was gratitude for each and every one of my colleagues with whom we made this film together,” Enyedi told MTI.
The last Hungarian feature film to be nominated for a European Film Award was Béla Tarr’s “The Turin Horse”. The film was nominated in three categories but failed to take a single award.
The European Film Awards will be presented in Berlin on December 9.
“On Body and Soul” was nominated as the Hungarian contender for the Academy Award for best foreign-language film in September. The film was awarded the Golden Bear, the main prize of the Berlin Film Festival, in February.
