Deputy PM meets Orthodox patriarch in Moscow
Budapest, March 12 (MTI) – Zsolt Semjen, Hungary’s deputy prime minister, met Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia for talks in Moscow on Wednesday.
According to a statement the Russian church published on its website, the patriarch appreciated Hungary’s position supporting Christian values.
During the talks, Semjen conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Viktor Orban and from Cardinal Peter Erdo, leader of the Hungarian Catholic Church.
“It is true that we, Christians, are fighting. We are attacked by many because of our basic law, which begins with the word God, because of the stipulation that marriage is an alliance between man and woman, and because we insist that life begins with conception and from that moment it is entitled to protection and dignity,” the statement quoted Semjen as saying.
