Jobbik calls for expanding patrols along southern borders
Budapest, March 17 (MTI) – The radical nationalist Jobbik party wants strengthened police patrols along Hungary’s southern borders to be expanded.
Deputy group leader Daniel Karpat told a press conference on Tuesday that a recent drop in migration resulted from Serbia’s efforts to stop immigrants. Hungary, too, could better prevent the wave of immigrants by making proper use of available technical equipment and beefing up police patrols, he added.
He asked the government to consult with European Union authorities about the costs. Jobbik’s current petition campaign involves canvassing people’s opinions on immigration, he noted, adding it was certain, however, that 90 percent of respondents would not want the state to bear the costs.
