Hungary re-opens consulate-general in Duesseldorf
Duesseldorf, March 19 (MTI) – Hungary’s consulate-general in Duesseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia was officially opened on Thursday by state secretary for economic diplomacy Levente Magyar.
“The world order has been restored, at least in our Hungarian world and in Hungarian-German relations,” Magyar told the event adding that “it was a senseless, unacceptable and damaging situation that Hungary had no official representation in the most populous Land of Germany, an economic hub.” The consulate-general was closed down in 2009.
He noted that the consulate-general is hoped to give a significant boost to political and economic cooperation between Hungary and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Secretary of State for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media Angelica Schwall-Dueren called Hungarian-German economic cooperation exemplary and welcomed the re-opening of the consulate-general.
Magyar told MTI that on the sidelines of the re-opening, the Hungarian-North Rhine-Westphalia intergovernmental mixed committee held a session and launched 30 cooperation projects in the areas of R and D, innovation, higher education and science.
He said that a car making investment forum was also held in Duesseldorf where representatives of Audi Hungaria Motor and Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary shared their experiences.
