Heat record broke on Sunday again in Hungary

According to Index.hu, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, in Hungary, temperature exceeded 10 °C. Therefore, the daily heat record at dawn broke again, as the National Meteorology Service announced.

So far on this day, 9.9 °C was the mildest temperature, recorded in Pápa in 1994. But now, in Dunaújváros,

the air only cooled down to 10.2 degrees, becoming the new peak of minimum temperature on the 7^th of January.

The National Meteorology Service claimed that the daily heat record was also broken, 17.7 degrees were recorded in Mohács. So far the absolute highest temperature was recorded in Kiskunmajsa, where the mercury in the thermometer reached 17.6 °C.

On Saturday, the heat record at dawn and the daily heat record were also broken. So far, 16.7 °C were the highest on this day, which was recorded in Sopron in 1975.

This year, a temperature of about 17 degrees was recorded in several locations. The highest number was recorded in Babócsa of Somogy county: 17.4 °C.

On the night from Friday to Saturday, the record of the highest minimum temperature was also broken. So far, the mildest night was in 1988, in Nagykanizsa, where thermometers showed 8.3 degrees. This year in Kaposvár, temperature only eased to 9.9 degrees.

As the forecast of Időkép demonstrates, in the beginning of the week the weather will resemble the early spring. There might be freezing at dawns in a few places.

The weather will be mostly cloudy in spite of the spring-like temperature.

On Monday, 08 January 2018, there will be more clouds in the sky, on Tuesday, the sky will be clearer. At dawns, air will be humid, there will be fog formation, especially in the western and southern parts of the country. In the major part of the country, temperature will remain over freezing point at nights. In the afternoon, on Tuesday there will be 7-12 °C.

On Tuesday, from West, a moistier breeze will arrive, so rain can be expected from the afternoon on in the western region. On Wednesday and Thursday,

rain can be expected in the Transdanubia and in the central parts of the country.

The measure of warming up during the day will slightly lessen. On Thursday and Friday, the skies will be more cloudy and the temperature will be between 3-8 degrees.
