Jobbik calls for setting up anti-corruption office
Budapest, June 3 (MTI) – Radical nationalist party Jobbik on Wednesday called for the setting up of an anti-corruption office.
Party spokesman Adam Mirkoczki told a news conference that the politically balanced institution should be entrusted with investigative powers and intelligence tools, and should be accountable only to parliament and the public.
Resolved cases should not be classified, he said. Rather the outcome of investigations should be publicised as widely as possible, he added.
The spokesman quoted Jobbik leader Gabor Vona, who said earlier that an institution that all parties and politicians “dread” if they illegally obtain taxpayers’ money is needed.
