12th VeszprémFest from 15th to 18th of July
The VeszprémFest awaits its visitors for the 12th time in Veszprém this year. The cultural event is taking place from 15th to 18th of July.
VeszprémFest is a dynamically developing, large-scale cultural event creating true values for lovers of art and quality music from Veszprém and from the whole country. For several days of every summer the event offers the most accomplished, world-class performers from various musical genres, be it classical music, world music, opera, jazz, or pop music.
The beautiful Baroque building of the Archbishop’s Palace in Veszprém Castle serves as the background and natural setting for the main concerts. The location – far from the noise of cities – greatly contributes to creating a unique, intimate, and friendly atmosphere for visitors.
The locations of the festival
Main stage
The venue of VeszprémFest is traditionally set in the historical Veszprem Castle. The background for the event is a natural set of the beautiful Baroque building of the Palace of the Archbishop.
In the U-shaped space a state-of-the-art stage is mounted which also includes the entrance of the building with the balcony. The driveway and the arched stage are at the same height and the audience can see a full front stage.
Rosé, Riesling and Jazz Days
A vivid festival among the baroque and secessionist buildings of the main square “Óváros” of Veszprém with a great selection of rosés and rieslings – two icons of the Balaton wine region. Furthermore, many young jazz musicians play to entertain. The event is free to enter, only consumption is to be paid.
FestGarden
One of the new locations of this year’s festival is the FestGarden, which is located in the Historia Garden, about 1000 meters from the downtown of Veszprém. Its auditorium, which has capacity for an audience of nearly 500 people, is located next to the picturesque former summer residency of the Archbishop. In 2015 this location focuses specifically on jazz.
In case of rainy weather, the FestGarden’s location is the Petőfi Theatre of Veszprém.
Dubniczay palace
The Jesuit Monastery, established in 1020, is one the oldest nunneries in the country. This uniquely inspiring sacral space serves as a site for one of Veszprémfest’s accompanying events. The building can accommodate 120 people at a time and hosts programs of different musical themes for visitors.
In case of Rain, Veszprem Arena
In case of extremely bad weather concerts will be held in Veszprem Arena, Sports and Event Hall. For technical reasons some concerts are set to be organised in the Veszprém Aréna by default. This is always indicated for programs concerned.
