New US ambassador eager to cement ties with Hungary – VIDEO
David B Cornstein, the United States’ new ambassador to Hungary, said he wants to strengthen ties between the US and Hungary in a message posted on the US embassy’s Facebook page on Friday.
Cornstein said he was “deeply honoured” to serve as ambassador.
He noted that his grandmother was born in Hungary.
“My family’s history illustrates the deep historical ties between our countries, and I am eager to make our relationship even stronger,” he said.

At a hearing to confirm his appointment before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in May, Cornstein said
he would focus on promoting American values and advancing US economic interests in Hungary.
Cornstein built up a jewellery business that generated a turnover of well over 1 billion dollars when he retired. He has also held a number of positions in government service and sat on several philanthropic boards.
