The general health state of the Hungarian children is bad

Change language:
According to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), the income of the families highly defines the general health state of even the 16-year-old children. Though the Hungarian government introduced daily PE classes many years ago, every fifth child is overweight. Thus, type 2 diabetes is becoming more and more frequent among them even though it regularly appears only in older age. Furthermore, 3/4th of the children and adolescents do not take part in dental inspections at all – reported hirtv.hu.
Compulsory screenings are ineffective
As we already reported, the health care system in Hungary struggles with many problems. The system is extremely underfunded, medical equipment is mostly outdated, and there is an ever growing
shortage of doctors and nurses
who leave the country to work abroad for better salaries.
According to the latest survey of the HCSO, almost 75 pc of the Hungarians above 16 do not take part in dental screenings. Furthermore, the chairwoman of the Hungarian Association of Paedodontics and Orthodontics said that this is also problematic among children below that age.
Moreover, many children do not take part even in compulsory school screenings. And even if they do, there is no follow-up – she added. This is why it seems that
the whole system is going to collapse
even though the law clearly prescribes regular dental screenings for children above 3. Moreover, under 18 every treatment is free.
